Religious Chicken

So now that this whole “Anti-gay Chik-fil-A” thing had died down, I’m gonna express my opinion. On here. On MY blog. I tried earlier on a Facebook post. I said,” Who cares if they support Chik-Fil-A?” The only response was from a particular individual who makes it on my pet peeves list. He quoted that line I stated previously then asked,” So what if you support genocide?”

Woah, left field. What does genocide have to do with chicken? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Yeah, he was one of those “I’m NEVER wrong and you are a moron” type people. I was called stupid, ignorant, moronic. I don’t care. I was tired of people fighting over chicken. I do know if I see him in public, I will shove a needle in his eye…..because I’ll feel better.

I digressed. My apologies. So you want to know my opinion? Of course you do, else you wouldn’t be this far without fuming. My opinion is actually on both sides.
Let’s do this by points.

1. Why the hell were people so shocked to find out a man who owns a restaurant, clearly states that he is Christian, and is NEVER open on Sunday to find that he is against gay marriage? Most Christians do not support it. How hard is that to accept? Some take it to far as to openly hate it. That’s entirely different. Dan Cathy, CEO, stated to the Baptist Press that

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that…We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”

He has a point. The point being that we live in a country where we can openly express our views. Granted, they aren’t always welcome. Then he stepped over the line during an interview on a podcast.

“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”

I see no fist shaking. I think we are making this country a more accepting one. Actually preaching the Lord’s message of loving all of his creations. Last I checked, it was for Him to judge and not you. I may be an atheist, but I know a thing or two from my years in that religion.

2. Equal Opportunity Employment

To have a successful business, you need to keep your shit to yourself. It states that a business owner should employ anyone of different race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, etc. It’s also hinted that you shouldn’t express your views on any matter that involves this law. Dan Cathy did just the opposite.

3. Chik-Fil-A support day

I’m sick and tired of seeing pictures of people going to Chik-Fil-A. My Facebook wall was flooded with them. Yeah, I got a lot of Christian friends. Deal with it. I kept my mouth shut. I didn’t care…..until the umpteenth frickin picture of chicken popped up! Something in me said they were doing it to rub it in people’s faces. It’s like saying, “Yeah, I went. So what? Come at me, bro!” It felt like instigation. Then I read a blog by a dear friend of mine that qualmed my irritations. I told her I’d give her props. Lol. She is my Choir director and good friend. One of the kindest people I know and from this one blog post, she helped me understand why people bought chicken.

On that note, I think I’m done for tonight. Everyone’s free to their own opinions, I just might ignore them. Either way, leave a comment of message me what you think. I know this is a touchy subject, but you never know what you might miss if you don’t take that first step in learning.
